No Rest for the Wicked Lore — The Story and World of Sacrament
Updated 2026-06-03
The lore of No Rest for the Wicked unfolds through item descriptions, NPC dialogue, environmental storytelling, and lore fragments scattered across the Island of Sacrament. This guide collects and interprets the story for players who want to understand the world beneath the combat.
The Island of Sacrament
Once a thriving kingdom ruled by a line of kings who communed with a primordial entity beneath the island, Sacrament fell when a ritual to strengthen the seal on that entity failed. The resulting catastrophe released the Pestilence, corrupting the land and its people. The kingdom collapsed within a generation.
The Cerim Order
The Cerim are warriors bonded to a fragment of the primordial entity's power, granting them the ability to resist and cleanse the Pestilence. They are both blessed and cursed — the power extends their lives but also connects them to the entity's will. The player character is the last known Cerim.
Key characters
