No Rest for the Wicked is the next game from Moon Studios, the award-winning team behind Ori and the Blind Forest and Ori and the Will of the Wisps. Departing from the Metroidvania genre, Moon Studios built a dark fantasy Action RPG with a focus on weighty, methodical combat and a deeply connected world. The game debuted on Steam Early Access in April 2024 and quickly sold over 2 million copies.

Story and setting

The game takes place on the Island of Sacrament, a land ravaged by the Pestilence — a grotesque curse that corrupts both the living and the land itself. Players take on the role of a Cerim, a holy warrior bonded to a mysterious power capable of cleansing the Pestilence. As you fight through settlements, cathedrals, and marshes, you uncover the truth behind the curse and the island's forgotten history.

Combat and exploration

Combat is deliberate and brutal. Every swing consumes stamina, every dodge requires precise timing, and enemy attacks hit hard. The game offers a variety of weapon types including swords, hammers, bows, polearms, greatshields, and dual blades. Exploration rewards patient players with hidden paths, upgrade materials, and lore fragments. The world is fully interconnected, with shortcuts and vertical pathways that loop back on themselves.
