No Rest for the Wicked Best Builds — Top Character Builds for Every Playstyle

Updated 2026-06-03

Builds in No Rest for the Wicked are shaped by three factors: your weapon choice, your skill tree allocation, and your rune loadout. Because there are no strict classes, you can mix elements freely. These builds are optimized for the current Early Access patch and will be updated for 1.0.

The Iron Wall (Strength Tank)

Uses greatshields and hammers. Focus on Endurance and Strength stats. Equip the Stone Skin rune set for damage reduction. Ideal for players who want to block and counter rather than dodge. Works great as a co-op frontliner.

The Shadowblade (Dexterity Crit)

  • Weapon: Dual blades or sword.
  • Stats: Dexterity > Endurance > Vitality.
  • Runes: Sharp Edge (crit chance), Fleet Foot (stamina regen).
  • Playstyle: In-and-out hit-and-run. Dodge through attacks, land backstabs.

The Huntsman (Ranged/Support)

Bows are your primary weapon. Invest in Perception for ranged damage and Vitality for survivability. Carry a light melee weapon for close range. In co-op, use elemental arrows to control enemy positioning while your tank draws aggro.

Hybrid builds (Strength + Dexterity) work well with polearms. You lose some peak damage but gain flexibility for different enemy types.

The Classes guide explains the stat foundations. The Weapons guide lists all weapons and their stat scaling. The Skill Tree guide covers every ability node.
